Laya, a South Indian actress debuted in a Telugu film titled Manoharam (2000). The film did decently at the box office.
In 2001 she was seen with the Bollywood actress Shilpa Shetty in a Kannada film, Maduve Agona Baa.
She played Goddess Sita in the Telugu movie Devullu (2001).
The same year she starred in another Tollywood film Hanuman Junction (2001).
In 2002 she appeared in 2 Telugu movies, Kondaveeti Simhasanam and Siva Rama Raju.
2003 saw 2 more performances from her in Tollywood. One was in Missamma, followed up with Donga Ramudu & Party.
In 2004 she did 1 Tamil film, Gajendra, and 1 in Telugu, Swarabhishekam.
In 2005 she did 3 Malayalam films, Thommanum Makkalum, Alice in Wonderland and Udayon.
The following year she did another Malayalam movie Rashtram (2006), and a Telugu film, Tata Birla Madhyalo Laila.
