Khushboo is more than just a pretty actress and has acquired a goddess status in the southern states of India.
Basics on Khushboo
Naggarth Khan, who grew up to be Khushboo, was born on 29th September 1970 in Mumbai. Of her three brothers, only one – Abdullah – has decided to take a plunge into acting with the debut Netru Pol Inru Illai.
There were several strong rumours that the actress was married to Prabhu Ganesan who is Sivaji Ganesan’s son.
She converted to Hinduism when she married Sundar C, a director and actor. The couple have two daughters, Avanthika and Ananditha.
The actress has a temple built by her fans in Thiruchirapalli. She has grown into a brand, with idlis and sarees named after her.
Trouble in Paradise
The actress made headlines in 2005 when she commented in the media that she didn’t find anything wrong with pre-marital sex and that women had to be educated about the use of contraceptives to avoid unwanted pregnancy. Her comments were met with outrage by conservative groups who tried to take legal action against her.
Khushboo’s Movies
Khushboo has been seen on television with appearances in Maanada Mayilaada, Jackpot, Kalki and Janani.
She was introduced to movies by actor and film maker Ravichandran. She had already tasted life as an actress when she appeared as a child artist in Thodisi Bewafaii (1980) and Laawaris (1981).
In the later part of the 80s she started getting meatier roles. Movies like Ranadheera (1988), Michael Madana Kamarajan (1991), Alai Payuthey (2000) and Stalin (2006) were popular with the masses.
